Combining Mass Flux with Data Visualization Techniques Using GIS
Track: Water Resources
Authors: Brett Milburn, Allison Jelinek

The development of a site conceptual model (SCM) provides an effective method for visualizing groundwater contaminant mass flux concentrations over time to assist responsible parties with prioritizing remedial efforts. An effective means of visualizing mass flux is to use Esri's 3-D analyst extension with animations of concentrations over time. This presentation will focus on the use of Esri's 3-D Analyst extension for visualizing groundwater mass flux concentrations. A case study using Esri's 3-D Analyst extension in conjunction with third party software Rockworks to effectively visual contaminant mass flux over time will be presented. The use of an animation created in 3-D Analyst of groundwater concentrations prior to and following source zone remedial treatment will also be included.
