Abstract

Army IGI&S: Data Compliance and Accountability
Track: Defense and Intelligence
Authors: Jaymes Cloninger

The U.S. Army's Installation Geospatial Information & Services (IGI&S) Program provides dedicated support to ensure efficient use of geospatial information across the Installations & Environments domain through Quality Assurance Plan (QAP) development and IGI&S Program performance measure implementation.

Army IGI&S developed QAPs to reduce redundancy and ensure uniformity in the quality of data and to increase access to geospatial data holdings. QAPs define geospatial data content specifications, handling procedures, validation methodology, applicable business systems, and metadata content specifications to ensure data standardization and consolidation into Army Mapper to support informed decision making processes at all Army levels.

IGI&S performance measures assess the programs advancement against goals defined by Army leadership, program strategy and regulatory drivers. Performance measures assess data compliance, provide an asset inventory, identify system status and asses geospatial management. Program measures validate success stories and areas that may need centralized funding to reach a common level of support.
