Kagithane which was a part of Sisli city has attained the status of a municipality district in 1987 and became one of the 7 small cities in Istanbul. Although the city's administrative area is 16 kmē it serves a population of 418,229. Municipality Automation System was built on Linux to manage the municipality in 1996; however this system was not sufficient that's why the municipality has started its new City Information System which will be serving different departments of the municipality. The system is a comprehensive system built on Esri Technology and integrates CRM, MIS and GIS to update, track, manage all municipal transactions and serve the citizens through the web portals.
