Site Construction and Design Changes—Live Using ArcPad
Track: Architecture, Engineering, and Construction
Authors: William Dennis

This GeoDesign-Construction process will explore methods for creating a dynamic process integrating the project design with spatial elements for site construction. The design is imported into ArcPad from ACAD. On the site the designer and contractor are able to see ,with ArcPad and a GPS connection ,the approved designs and spatial elements in relationship to the natural elements that would affect the construction. Field staking can be placed for items not requiring high accuracy and construction begins. As field changes are required designer observes in the field how the changes will affect the site design. Updated field data can be taken to record the approved changes and keep track of construction progress. This provides for a process that allows for rapid and accurate field adjustments that result in construction time and cost are savings. The design fits the needs of the developer, design constraints, and the environment surrounding the project.
