Abstract
Waubonsee College: Creating a Sustainable Transformation Inventory Analysis
Track: Facilities
Authors: Alfred Weiss
As economics and environment becomes more complex, sustainability has become a process that influences all aspects of education and technology. In order to serve the diverse needs of the college community, Waubonsee has implemented an inventory of sustainable initiatives designed to enhance environment and campus economics. Tree collection, recycling use, wetland control, and infrastructure energy considerations are some of the inventories that have been entered into GIS. The use of ArcGIS has helped to solve various geographic distribution observations. Various tools such as density, distance, and geoprocessing were used for geospatial analysis which has given a visual / temporal advantage for planning. The findings concluded that certain areas of the campus were lacking sustainable measures that were overlooked. In short, this compare and contrast study analysis can be used in numerous situations beneficial to a variety of audiences within and outside the realm of sustainable planning.
