Highway Safety & GIS: Web-based Mapping & Analysis of Traffic Crashes
Track: Highways and Roads
Authors: Ilir Bejleri
The process of accurately locating traffic crashes and associating those locations with the highway network is a complex, inefficient, and costly exercise. Additionally, determination of most dangerous crash clusters is required to guide transportation planners to invest in countermeasures. These issues are addressed through innovative GIS web-based reverse geocoding geospatial web-services and a web-based analytical system for spatial-temporal analysis of crashes for improving public safety.
