Conception to Completion: Implementing Fire Pre-Incident Planning

Our Fire Department was tasked with implementing a pre-fire plan (PFP) program. All commercial occupancies (COs) and emergency features were documented in a spatial database. We used data driven pages, digitizing, and geometry calculations to reveal characteristics such as the amount of water flow needed to extinguish a fire. The final product improved firefighter safety and efficiency. Our simple implementation allowed complete PFPs for all COs in one year and improved first responder safety.
