A Multi-Resolution Approach to Mapping and Monitoring Shallow Coral Reefs

We present our multi-resolution remote sensing approach to study shallow coral reef in concert with field measurements and a low-cost and transportable small Unmanned Surface Vehicle. The vehicle operates via pre-programmed survey transects, collecting underwater stereo images, processed to create orthophoto mosaics and a DSM. We used GIS techniques to correlate these data with field measurements. Field measurements are also compared with high resolution imagery of the study area.
