GIS has been integrated throughout a new curriculum design for the forestry and natural resources major of the Natural Resources Management Department, Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. In addition to one introductory and one advanced course in GIS, GIS has been integrated into a number of upper division courses. GIS education at Cal Poly is supported further by the newly established GIS minor in agriculture that encompasses courses from other departments such as landscape architecture, computer science, and bioresource and agricultural engineering. Lastly, a recently developed GIS teaching lab has strengthened our capabilities and facilitated GIS education throughout the university.
