The water supply system in California and a key component of that system, the Delta, are in crisis. GIS has been playing a role in addressing this crisis. GIS has the potential to assist in the resolution of many of these issues. This presentation examines the current information that is available digitally related to water supply, the California Delta, and the GIS applications. It also takes a look at opportunities for extension of these techniques based on current legislation being considered by the California legislature. The presentation will increase awareness of this issue to the CA/NV/HI RUG and encourage discussion on other techniques to address what is a major crisis facing California and the western United States.
