Managing Recycled Water Planning—Implementation and Use with GIS

View Presentation [PDF]

—Kristian Barrett and John Wuerth, Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD)

The Southern California region is facing significant water supply challenges. One way that Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) is attempting to meet this challenge is by using recycled water supply for common area landscapes, which maximizes potable water offsets. With the use of recycled water there are many associated regulatory restrictions. Additionally, the business process for development has been redefined specifically for the planning, design, construction and management of landscape systems. GIS has played a critical role in aiding the planning, implementation and use of recycled water and has been integrated into all phases of the business process.
