Virtual Pasadena—Development of a 3D City

The City of Pasadena has developed a large 3D virtual model of over 5,000 photo realistic models. The City is using these models for its current General Plan update, Design Review process, event planning, and marketing Pasadena. While 3D modeling is not a new technology, frequently those implementing the data felt as if we were on the cutting edge of technology.

This presentation will discuss:

• The source of the data, the data formats, software, and hardware used
• How the data are used and how we trained our users, and past and current challenges and lessons learned
