This session will focus on the most important ways to extend ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Engine including add-ins, geoprocessing tools, and custom renderers. This session will focus on how to create these extensions quickly and effectively using real-world examples. Java add-ins, which are new at ArcGIS 10, allow developers to easily create components like buttons, tools, and menus that can be used to customize ArcGIS Desktop. Creating geoprocessing tools in Java allows you to leverage the full power of ArcObjects in a cross-platform manner across ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Engine, and ArcGIS Server. Java-based custom feature renderers provide great control over how your feature data is drawn on a map in ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Engine, and ArcGIS Server.
