ArcGIS Server/Flex API Super-Mashup (YouTube, Flickr, Scribd, WMS, KML)

The Southern Forest for the Future Project is an ArcGIS Server/Flex API/super-mashup application which integrates YouTube, Flickr, Scribd, WMS, and KML inside of a Rich Internet Application. The application leverages the improved speed of dynamic map requests to show a great time series of suburbanization (urban sprawl). Bing Maps for ArcGIS Server is used as the main set of basemaps, but Landsat mosaics and custom landcover basemaps were also added. The presentation will address:

• Consuming KML in Adobe Flex using E4X
• Setting up time series animations using msd dynamic map requests
• Integrating Flickr, YouTube, and Scribd into an Adobe Flex
• Mapping application The World Resources Institute conceived and produced the cartography/media content for the site, Blue Raster LLC developed the mapping application and Drupal site, and Toyota was the project sponsor.
