Developing Certificate and AS Degree Program at Community College Level Track: Designing Curriculum & Degree Programs Author(s): Binita Sinha Due to the labor-market demand GIS is emerging as an important discipline for workforce development. Several community colleges have recognized GIS as a curriculum for vocational-technical education. This paper explains the processes involved in developing a Certificate and AS degree program in GIS and GPS at the community college level. With reference to the Certificate of Completion, Certificate of Achievement and AS degree programs in GIS-GPS at Diablo Valley College this paper addresses the issues of curriculum design, enrollment, internship, and articulation.
