Celebrate Environment Day With a Colloquium For Students By Students
Track: Teaching with GIS in Schools

The ConTIG project continues to get high school and middle school students to work with GIS in different classes. Last year, ISEGI-UNL hosted a colloquium where all the students that participated on the project came to present their work. Over one hundred students from five different schools attended. Besides the students, in the audience there were high school teachers, university teachers and representatives of all the entities that supported the Colloquium – the Geographical Institute, Geographers Association, Ciência Viva Program, Esri-Portugal, etc.
In two sessions we had ten presentations by the students and all moderators were also students. Posters of the presented assignments were also shown and three prizes were attributed for the best projects. These were chosen by two juries: a student’s jury and a sponsor jury.
