Modeling Campus

Modeling campus in 2.5D is the second project out of three for an upper-level GIS course. Students were only given an out-of-date building footprint shapefile of WKU's main campus. The submissions of the project are a project paper and a 2.5D model in ArcScene. Replace polygon technique for editing TIN was used and Google Sketchup created 3D marker symbols. Issues of resolution, rendering, area of interest, attribute names, geoprocessing, and video memory were encountered. Students worked together to collect building heights and shared data by joining tables. Student feed back on this project was very positive.
