Growing and Sustaining 4-H Geospatial Science and Technology in New York
Thousands of 4-H youth in New York geocache with their clubs, at 4-H camps and with their after-school groups. Many of these students go on to learn GIS and apply it to community mapping projects. Curriculum units in remote sensing are being developed to engage youth and adult leaders in a wider understanding of geospatial science and technology.
With the focus on geospatial science for the 4-H National Youth Science Day, New York State will take advantage of the opportunity to introduce Geospatial Sciences to new audiences. Delivery methods will include: state wide training programs, Cornell Career Explorations, as well as local county fairs and the New York State Fair.
