Abstract
Taking Advantage of ArcGIS Online for Organizations on Your Campus
Track: User Presentations - Teaching
Authors: David Smith, Diana Sinton
On many college campuses, faculty and students are becoming increasingly interested in taking advantage of the new ArcGIS Online for Organizations. This cloud-based collaborative content management system allows users to store maps, applications and data specific to their organization. One unique feature is the ability to publish map content directly from ArcGIS 10.1.
At the University of Redlands examples from the classroom will highlight the options faculty and students have in creating/accessing GIS data and map services. Central to these examples is the use of ArcGIS Online for Organizations as both a data repository and data sharing tool for both desktop and online applications.
The administration of using this service from a campus perspective will also be discussed, including inviting members, the setting of roles, and managing credits. A discussion of how to configure the interface to best meet your own campus needs and sharing content will also be covered.
