The Pura Vida of GIS

Acquiring the skills and knowledge youth need to succeed in the future is a goal of every school. This is no different in Costa Rica. For the past year, GIS has been introduced into schools along the southern Pacific Coast. Teachers are using GIS to explore existing content and participate in community projects. Hurdles exist to integrating GIS here, but the success is that students are learning how GIS enables them to better understand their community and explore other parts of the world.
