Abstract
Keeping Up With GIS: Supporting Academic Research Across Disciplines
Track: User Presentations - Learning and Research
Authors: Mark Jackson
Most academics see the possibilities that GIS can open to them, but do not have the time to learn how to actually implement them. Even those who have years of experience with GIS are frustrated with their inability to keep up with the current methods of implementation. Without resources to establish a large geospatial services center, a GIS Lab was established at BYU with faculty oversight, but is run by students. Students gain valuable job experience and faculty get their research done.
