Track: User Presentations - Learning and Research
Authors: Brian Tomaszewski
Teaching spatial thinking is a global education challenge. GIS is essential for spatial thinking teaching and difficult to utilize for education in developing countries due to economic constraints. In this presentation, we discuss our educational research in Rwanda and (1) our implementation of Android-based educational GIS tools to support teaching spatial thinking skills, (2) how our Free and Open Source approach has impacted Rwandan spatial thinking teaching practice and (3) lessons learned.
