Successes and Challenges Using ArcGIS Online in an Initial GIS Course

ArcGIS Online (AGO) offers unique opportunities for students and faculty in a college-level introductory GIS course, as well as challenges for the instructor when administering the AGO account. Group story map projects foster cooperation and facilitate exposure to cloud GIS. The final web apps are shared on ACC’s AGO gallery for public viewing. AGO’s ability to share map packages allows for better assessment of students’ learning goals. Quick tips for administering AGO will also be presented.
