Integrating Community & Serviced Based GIS Projects in K-12 Classrooms

The EAST (Environmental & Spatial Technology) Initiative's model of education focuses on student-driven service projects accomplished with teamwork and state-of-the-art technology, including GIS, in participating schools. Recently, the Initiative has launched a program to integrate this methodology into core secondary math & science classes. This session will show how GIS fits naturally into the K-12 environment especially into STEM coursework with representative projects and best practices.
