Abstract
Connecting the Lab to the Field by Mapping Macroinvertebrates
Track: User Presentations - Learning and Research

Macroinvertebrate species are useful in habitat assessment, but good reference material is sparse. We have produced a web map of species collected in Pennsylvania streams that allows users to view and query sites for particular species. The list of species is linked to a website with a gigapixel image of the species, providing visual confirmation or reference. Used together, these tools allow better understanding of the geographic distribution and identification of macroinvertebrate species.
