Challenges of Implementing a GIS Education Model in Haiti

Haiti is among the poorest countries in the world whose resources have been exploited and mismanaged. To better protect Haiti’s remaining resources a new generation of stakeholders must be engaged. This project involves developing an education model for Haiti’s youth using GIS to promote geographic literacy. The model integrates geography, historical land-use, and soil science in a technologically void landscape, with the goal of enhanced resource management for a more sustainable future.
