Using System Thinking and GIS in the Elementary School Classroom

Borton Magnet School has been developing ways to incorporate technology into classroom and introduce students to new tools as a means to foster curiosity, learning, and communication. GIS integrated with Systems Thinking helps achieve these goals. This paper focuses on the Phenology Project, where students map seasonal changes in plants.This project incorporates the Story Map app that allows students to map results and integrate photos and video of the project,fulfilling many of the objectives.
