Using Story Maps to Achieve Learning Goals for Study Abroad
Track: Learning and Research Lightning Talk
Authors: Susan Swanson, Sarah Pipal, Allison Vance
The process of designing prototype Story Maps in association with conducting background research helped students refine learning goals and strengthen proposals to fund summer study abroad in Victoria, Australia. The students, with interests in the geology of Victoria and the effects of bushfires on its unique natural resources, worked on the Story Maps while in the field, which served to reinforce goals. Finalizing the maps promoted reflection and enhanced communication of their results.
