Who Needs our Help? –Challenges to Set Up Service Learning Projects

Service-Learning is a teaching and learning strategy that integrates meaningful community service with instruction and reflection to enrich the learning experience, teach civic responsibility, and strengthen communities. GIS is a highly applied field, which lends itself to service learning. However, in reality, it may be challenging to initiate and maintain connections to the demand side. The author will share her own experiences and call for regional collaboration to tackle this issue.
