Global change challenges scientists to communicate effectively with non-scientists. We used place-based, community-engaged strategies to teach students at Stanford University how global change manifests locally by building an ArcGIS Story Map, “Geographic Impacts of Global Change: Mapping the Stories of Californians” (http://bit.ly/1l1hGZF). Our Story Map has been well-received by the California Governor’s office, with work to expand its scope for broader use nationally and in K-12 education.
