Track: Learning and Research Lightning Talk
Authors: Nicole Kong, Steven Smith
K-12 students often lack the understanding of GIS and how it is used. To address this issue, Purdue University took the GIS day opportunity and invited high school students to attend a service learning activity. Students learned to use ArcGIS Collector app to collect structured data points and photos around the newly developed campus area. With story map, these points and photos are mapped online, which serves as a map tour for visitors. Assessment result shows great spatial-skill improvement.
