In her research on the presence of 4-nonylphenol in California lakes, Chemistry professor Dr. Rebecca Lyons did not plan to 'go spatial.' But, a quest for control lakes without the pollutant led Dr. Lyons and her students to discover unexpected patterns of deposition in High Sierra lakes. This presentation describes Dr. Lyons’ journey in working with her students to conduct spatial analyses that helped unravel how the endocrine disruptor came to be deposited in some remote lakes, but not others.
