Service Learning is the Basis of the Tennessee 4-H GIS Program

The Tennessee 4-H GIS Program and the Esri 4-H GIS Grant program use community service learning projects as the basis for using GIS to solve needs. Youth are partnered with GIS mentors in their communities to learn GIS concepts and applications while conducting projects to learn, and then to teach about their communities using maps they created. The statewide 4-H GIS Contest is a venue for demonstrating what they learned and to compete for the privilege of attending the Esri EdUC.
