The current FAA rules prevent educators from using UAV's to supplement class content. UAV's have great potential to collect current remote sensing data for integration and analysis in ArcGIS desktop, and to support other remote sensing educational concepts in the classroom. Both up-to-date color imagery and near-infrared can be inexpensively acquired with opportunities for LIDAR available in the future.
