The Undergraduate Experience and Community Engagement with GIS

Universities play an important role preparing students to thrive in communities with challenging problems. The Geospatial Analysis Center and GIS Program provide students with interdisciplinary tools to address societal problems relating to environmental, healthcare and cultural sustainability. I will present examples of community projects that have engaged undergraduates in meaningful GIS experiences and I will discuss course activities, services fees, and in-kind outreach.
