Creating Academic GIS Pathways for Student Success

We designed a student-centered framework of knowledge and skill sets to provide a structured academic pathway for transfer success using the Lumina Foundation’s Degree Qualifications Profile, and the Department of Labor’s Geospatial Technology Competency Model. The GIS program at Salt Lake Community College has partnered with local universities to construct learning indicators around integrated knowledge; specialized knowledge; intellectual skills; applied learning; civic and global learning.
