GIS in Design: How Landscape Architecture Students Use GIS in Design

GIS is introduced in the Landscape Architecture Department at Cal Poly through a course with emphasis on application of GIS to projects. Unlike other technical courses, the course encourages the students to think about questions; what, why, and how they use data before displaying them. Throughout the course, students learn collecting and analyzing real world data, and various ways to represent them for their design process and application.
