Making California’s K12 Education Data GeoFriendly

The California Department of Education is exploring publicizing our data in a way that lends itself to spatial analysis and using ArcGIS to perform spatial analysis. We have started using ArcGIS to solve issues like: locating our summer food programs, schools closed by wildfires, and how districts can use ArcGIS to identify greatest areas of need of assistance and support? The California School Directory now contains each school’s lat/long. We see opportunities to improve our grant management.
