Abstract
'Scoop'-ing Passengers: A University Collaboration with Carpool App Developer
Track: Teaching and Research
Authors: Richard Kos
Students at San Jose State University partnered with developers at Scoop, whose app forms carpools between San Francisco Bay Area neighborhoods and targeted work destinations. Seeking to expand operations to other cities, Scoop needed support with spatial and demographic analysis. The students used Esri's Community Analyst, ArcGIS Model Builder, and Tapestry Segmentation data to analyze Scoop’s trips along commute corridors. The result: a model that Scoop can deploy to evaluate new metro areas.
