Teaching Big Data Analytics and Geospatial Data Science

GIS professionals and educators are working with big data (including remote sensing, GPS tracks, census data, etc.) every day. However, current GIS education programs are missing key elements in data science, data engineering, and data analytics. This paper will identify missing components and propose a new geospatial data science education program by integrating GIScience and Data Science together. ArcGIS Enterprise will be used to facilitate the development of geospatial data science programs.
