How to Develop a Crime Mapping Course From Scratch

This presentation addresses the challenges and benefits of developing and delivering a new crime mapping course for undergraduate students in an urban college classroom. It specifically shows what and how instructors can prepare for a crime mapping class for non-traditional criminal justice majors, including several examples that can be used in an ArcGIS Online environment. Lastly, it summarizes the findings on students’ changes in attitudes toward spatial analyses in the criminal justice field.
