Data creation, manipulation, and analysis are all essential tools for geospatial analysis. With this, there are parallel issues for the broader population in terms of capacity to interpret spatial data they encounter. In this session, see how youth-focused GIS projects illustrate both of these strands of concern. These points then lead to a summary consideration of the use of GIS to address current challenges and opportunities in pre-college education, in the United States and elsewhere.
