Abstract
Using GIS Student Superpowers to Designate a Water Trail in Southwest Georgia
Track: Teaching and Research
Authors: Christine Ambrose
GIS students at Thomas University in Thomasville, GA worked with local citizens to make the Ochlocknee River a designated Georgia water trail. River features were documented using GPS and ArcGIS desktop. Data was entered into an online database. Maps were created depicting access locations, put-in and take-out shuttle routes and points of interest. This work was instrumental in designating the water trail, provides resources for paddlers and makes the river an asset to the local economy.
