Lessons Learned with Designing and Implementing a CBE Pilot Program for GIS

The ACC GIS Department launched an online competency-based education pilot program using ESRI software. Faculty will discuss how the CBE format of learning is applied to curricular design, how the online format of learning is achieved through teaching techniques, student engagement and digital delivery of content (including lectures). Challenges in launching a new program, benefits to the GIS program (on campus), and metrics on the current state of the pilot program will be provided in detail.
