This presentation focuses on the use of parcel boundaries and hazard layers for emergency preparedness and response. We will show how integrating these capabilities into a land management system allows city, county, state and federal planners the ability to better deploy resources before, during and after a natural or man-made disaster. Emergency preparedness and response planning needs to take into account the likelihood of natural disasters, the ability to establish functioning escape routes, the need to contact the populace, before during and after the event, and to be able to identify places that may no longer be the places that they once were. Using standard GIS techniques with an integrated parcel and hazard layer land management system will save money, time and lives.
