Process improvement models can benefit a GIS program. Strategies such as continual improvement, process auditing, and quantitatively measuring efficiencies, when applied to a GIS system help ensure that client requirements are fully met and that the program provides the most value that it can to its users. This briefing will discuss the application of the Carnegie Mellon Software Engineering Institute's (SEI) Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) to the USAF Air Combat Command's GIS program (ACC IGI&S). Attendees can expect to learn about CMMI and process improvement and how it has directly benefited ACC IGI&S and its worldwide operation and how it may apply to your program.
