Taken for granted in many parts of the world, untold numbers of people on the African continent lack any formal recognition or rights to the very resources upon which their survival often depends. This situation is especially acute in countries that have recently suffered as a result of warfare. Using examples from active projects in several post-conflict countries, this presentation honestly highlights how geospatial tools are applied and to what effect in several efforts aimed at securing both individual and community based resource rights.
