The United States Trade Development Agency (USTDA) has funded Phase Two of the China Land Registration and Certification Program with in kind donations from a team of US-based technology partners including International Land System (ILS), Trimble, and Esri. Located in Anhui province, the project implications are immense, as it will allow rural residents to have the same, or near equal certificates of land ownership as urban residents, significantly increasing the value of their land. The project is supported by China's Ministry of Agriculture, Anhui's provincial government and Agricultural Commission, and the China Agricultural University. The applicability for GIS with GPS as a tool to quickly, accurately, and efficiently register land parcels will be presented as project phase one. Also explained is the phase two approach for this now three year project, defining land registry system requirements, developing software configurations, testing new GPS survey methods, and providing public outreach and training to stakeholders.
