Jean Parcher, U.S. Geological Survey
The U.S. Department of Transportation, the U.S. Bureau of Census, and the U.S. Geological Survey are leading an effort to define the core content for geospatial transportation data needs for Federal agencies and develop a strategy to reduce duplication, increase consistency, and integrate Federal transportation data assets. This presentation will review results of a Federal requirements survey and discuss the core requirements and next steps identified by the participating agencies to explore innovative solutions and encourage a discourse that will allow Federal agencies to have access to the most current geospatial transportation data. The effort is also designed to support revitalization of the Federal Geographic Data Committee Transportation Sub-committee and feed into a strategic planning effort for "Transportation for the Nation" led by the U.S. Department of Transportation.
