The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA's) regional collaboration efforts seek to identify and apply the organization's full range of capabilities within and across regions and to design the best geographically specific solutions for customers. NOAA's Southeast and Caribbean (SECART) Data Explorer is an on-line data discovery and delivery system that integrates GIS data from across NOAA to support SECART priorities. The SECART Data Explorer project uses Esri's ArcGIS Server Geoportal extension to provide users with the ability to search metadata records and preview data footprints as well as deliver datasets. The SECART Data Explorer also uses several standards-based mechanisms, such as Catalog Services for the Web and Web Ontology Language, to improve functionality and interoperability. The presentation will highlight the data integration process, the development of standards for the portal, and the data distribution process.
